Options for Full Alignment

Full alignment fully justifies text either horizontally or vertically.

By default, justification only affects the current paragraph. To change multiple paragraphs, first select them.

  1. From the Paragraph tab in DesignCentral, click Full Justify.

    The Full Alignment dialog box displays.

  2. Adjust the following parameters:

    Adjust

    Presents a dropdown list with four different methods for achieving full text justification.

     

    Character and word spacing

    Evenly distributes text by adjusting the spacing between both characters and words.

     

    Word spacing only

    Evenly distributes text by adjusting only the spacing between words.

     

    Character width

    Evenly distributes text by equally expanding or contracting the width of each character.

     

    Character size

    Evenly distributes text by equally expanding or contracting the height of each character.

    Fit to width

    Fits text to the specified width, depending on the Adjust spacing option selected.

    Compression options are only available for the Character width and size options.

     

    Width

    Adjusts the width of the text block.

     

    Compression only

    Compresses the width or size of any characters that extend beyond the specified width, then automatically centers the text.

     

    Apply equal compression to all lines

    Compresses the width or size of all characters in the text to the specified width, then automatically centers the text.

    Apply to last line of each paragraph

    Compresses or expands the last line of a paragraph, depending on the type of spacing selected.

  3. Click OK.
